Hey, I’m Jason , I play guitar for After the Mourning.  I was born in Eugene, OR on 07/25/1983 and lived there until my freshman year in High School.  My father passed away when I was 14 and the family decided to uproot and move to the high desert to try to start over, so off to Bend, OR we went.  I hated it, then I loved it, now I’m back in Eugene and don’t really miss it...  Eugene is my home and always will be.  I moved back to go to Eugene Bible College.  I went there just long enough to not get a degree but still rack up enough debt to pay for a degree.  I did meet my awesome wife, Michelle, there though, so every penny spent (and billions more) was worth it!
I’ve been playing guitar since I was 12 or 13, can’t really remember, but my mom gave (let me borrow, she later told me) her acoustic guitar and a chord book and said “have at it!”  I then bought an electric guitar for about $120.00, a Rogue (made by Squire, which is supposedly made by Fender… pretty much the crappiest guitar you can by, something to be proud of!)  then turned around and sold it for $200.00 a few years later (yes, I turn slowly).  As you can see from the before mentioned story, I am quite the business man!
I’ve been involved in a few bands ranging from punk rock (Hydroponic in early high school) to Acoustic (Green Room Conspiracy with my best friend in College) to metal (Searching for Sundown also during my college years).  None of them went anywhere or did anything, but all taught me valuable lessons in music, friendship, and commitment.
My relationship with God and my Family are first in my life.  I love every second I get to be with my wife and son.  We find peace and tranquility in places like the high mountains for snowboarding, to the low pits at concerts for moshing and many things in between.  My wife and I do everything together, and as soon as Ian (our son) is old enough, he’ll be with us everywhere we go to (until he can balance on a snowboard or skateboard he’ll have to stay with Grandma.)
I am very excited to be a part of a band that is dedicated to the music they produce and to furthering their musical endeavors.  I am confident that this will be fruitful and exciting.  Let’s Rock and Roll all night, and have a really good time!
